WAGGGS STEM Changemakers Online Training For Guiders
April 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Dear Guiders,
We are excited to share that we will be having our final round of online training sessions for Guiders! By attending this training, your Guides will be able to be more involved in the STEM Changemakers activities during HQ level events. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
The STEM Changemakers Programme is an exciting initiative developed by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, applying the Growing and Learning Framework. It empowers girls and young women to explore the world of STEM through fun, engaging, and purpose-driven learning experiences. The programme also focuses on equipping young people with the knowledge, confidence, and leadership to see themselves as future changemakers in STEM.
How do Guides earn the badge?
To earn the badge, Guides will have to complete three interactive activities from the activity booklet, and a hands-on STEM Challenge. These activities allow participants to discover what STEM means, how STEM skills are part of their everyday lives, and how these skills can be used to address global challenges. They will also explore the critical importance of gender equality in STEM fields and learn more about the role models who are breaking barriers and creating impact.
Upon completion of the activities above, Guides will also have to “take action” by sharing their learning and experience with at least two peers or members of their community, spreading knowledge and multiplying the impact.
How do we get started?
Before embarking on this badge, Guiders will have to attend an online training session to ensure effective and efficient implementation of the programme at the unit level.
Agenda:
- Introduction to STEM Changemakers
- Safeguarding training and creating a Brave Space
- Briefing of activity booklet activities
