About Community Guiding

The Community Guiding programme provides a platform for girls from ages 7 to 17 to enjoy the Guiding experience outside of the regular school Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) programme.

Community Guiding programmes are located in neighborhoods around Singapore and is part of a growing movement for Brownies and Guides to leave a positive impact on the community around them. Sessions for the Community Guiding Units commence on a fortnightly to monthly basis.

Girls who are enrolled as a member of a Brownie or Guide Unit in a MOE school as part of their CCA are also eligible to join in our Community Guiding programmes as a registered member.

Learn Valuable Life Skills

The Community Guiding programme aims to equip girls with six essential life skills through a variety of REAL (relevant, engaging, accessible & learner-led) programmes and activities. These activities include camping, outdoor cooking, first-aid, craft, etc and help the girls develop the 6 skills (citizenship, creativity, character, communication, collaboration, and commitment) to continue thriving in an ever-changing world.

Through our REAL programmes, the five elements of our non-formal educational method and competent adult leaders and volunteers, our Brownies and Guides are able to develop a unique Guiding experience

Regular participation in the Guiding activities rooted in the Fundamental Principles (Promise & Law) also provides leadership opportunities and a platform for collaborative learning with girls from their age group and across the different generations of volunteers and GGS members.

An International Guiding experience where our local girls went overseas for an International Camp!

Part of a Global Movement

As a part of an international movement, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) with girl members in over 150 countries in the world, GGS continues to create opportunities for girls and young women to connect with and host others on a global platform. Some of these activities include local and overseas international camps and exchanges.

Community Guiding members will get to participate in GGS’ HQ activities and meet with fellow sister Brownies or Guides beyond their own schools to socialise and engage in meaningful activities within their local communities.
