YFI at Division FEST!

Youths For Inclusion starts with You and I (YFI) began as an international conference initiated by the Young Adults (YAs) in Dec 2023, introducing the realities of people living with disabilities (PWDs) to an international community of 100 young women from the Asia Pacific Region, determined to make a change. Today, the YAs who had attended and organised YFI continue to share their Story to keep the message going through various booths and activities, spreading awareness and promoting empathy towards individuals with disabilities.
The YFI @ Div FEST workshop is designed to promote inclusivity and awareness of the challenges faced by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) through interactive activities and engagement with PWD organisations. Participants will experience firsthand the different ways PWDs navigate daily life, such as using sign language, braille and adaptive sports such as Boccia. Through these hands-on activities, the Guides will gain a deeper understanding of inclusivity, develop empathy, and learn practical ways to support and advocate for a more accessible society while covering the clauses of the four PWD-related proficiency badges, showing how much more they’ve learnt, along the way! The four PWD-related proficiency badges are,
- Disability Awareness
- Friend to the Visually Impaired
- Friend to the Deaf
- Language (for the Deaf)
Guides will be given a handbook developed by a team of YAs, consisting of activities that cover the clauses of each proficiency badge, which makes it easier for them to track if they would like to continue their advocacy amongst their friends in school.
