Registration Deadline for Training for Guiders – Outdoor Cooking and Tent Pitching #1

Dear Guide Guiders, 

We are excited to invite you to a hands-on experience in outdoor cooking and tent pitching as part of your leadership journey. 

You will learn how to pitch an 8-man tent canvas, as well as different parts of the tent. 

The outdoor cooking training is designed to teach you essential outdoor cooking skills without the use of utensils or stoves. You will prepare your own fire pits, learn various cooking techniques, and cook a variety of dishes using the ingredients provided. Your team will then be judged on both the presentation of your menu and the food.

Training Details
Date: Saturday, 14 February 2026
Time: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Venue: Camp Christine (2-way transportation will be provided from GGS HQ)

Attire: Guider Polo T, long pants and comfortable shoes

Training Fee: $120 excl GST ($130.80 including 9% GST)

What to Expect:

Tent Pitching: Learn how to pitch an 8-man canvas tent and discover the different parts that make up a tent—perfect for any future camping trip!

Outdoor Cooking: Say goodbye to stoves and utensils! You’ll be preparing your own fire pits, mastering unique cooking techniques, and cooking up a delicious variety of dishes with provided ingredients. Your team will then showcase your creations, with a panel of judges assessing both your menu and presentation.
