Wee Kim Wee Challenge (Masterclass)

Dear Guiders,

We are pleased to bring back Wee Kim Wee Challenge Shield 2025!

President Wee Kim Wee presented Girl Guides Singapore with a shield bearing the Istana’s Coat of Arms in 1994 just before he ended his final term. This Challenge was held on a biennial basis and has seen umpteen Girl Guides through a variety of challenges—each challenging them to exercise creative and critical thinking skills. 

The Wee Kim Wee Challenge was revived in 2007 challenging Guides to showcase their culinary skills and present their dishes creatively. The dishes originate from Ms Wee Eng Hwa’s Cooking For The President’s Cookbook. 

The champion will have their school name carved into the Shield and be able to display the shield in their schools for 2 years!

We are now inviting Brownie Packs, Guide Companies and Young Adults to participate in this year’s Wee Kim Wee Challenge.

Theme: SG 60 – A Refreshed Spirit

1.   Number of Teams/ Participants & Fees
   – 10 teams per Division (First come, first served basis)
   – Each School to send only 1 team
   – For Brownies: Register 2 Brownies per team
   – For Guides: Register 3 Guides per team
   – For Young Adults – Register 3 YAs per team
   – $15 per Brownie/Guide (before 9% GST)
2.   There are 3 sessions:
   Session 1: MasterClass
   Date/Day: 30 Aug 2025, Saturday
   Time: 9am – 12pm
   Venue: Camp Christine  (71 Jalan Bahtera Singapore 719922)

Session 2: Preliminary Round
Date: 8 November 2025, Saturday
Time: 9am – 2pm
Venue: Camp Christine  (71 Jalan Bahtera Singapore 719922)

Session 3: Final Round
Date: 15 November 2025, Saturday
Time: 9am – 2pm
Venue: Camp Christine  (71 Jalan Bahtera Singapore 719922)

3.   Competition Format

Brownies and Guides will be grouped together. They will collaborate in preparing 2 of Mrs Wee’ s beloved dishes alongside 1 drink/dessert.

– 1st dish: Team will prepare a dish using the outdoor cooking method.
– 2nd dish: Team will prepare a dish using the stovetop cooking method.
– 3rd dish: Team will prepare a drink or dessert

There will be an element of presentation as well.
