DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\nFree Being Me Workshop\n\nThis activity-based programme will enable the participants to discover that their society\, through media and people around them\, encourages them to try to look like a very narrow definition of beauty. We want to help participants improve their confidence and self-esteem to realise their fullest potential. Through fun and interactive activities\, they will learn that body confidence and self-esteem come from valuing their bodies\, standing up to social pressures and supporting others to be more body confident. The programme will challenge them to take the lead by taking action in their community\, sharing what they have learnt with their peers.\n\n \n\nThis is an opportunity to develop and sharpen participants’ planning\, organising and leadership skills. They will also learn new ideas that will be useful for running fun and meaningful unit activities using the WAGGGS non-formal educational method.\n\n \n\nGiven the current COVID-19 outlook\, we would not be able to have the workshop in HQ. DESCRIPTION:BPA 2021 Round 1\, 2 Jul\n\nDear Guide Guiders\,\n\nThe registration for Baden-Powell Award (BPA) is now open: BPA 2021 Registration\n\nPlease be reminded that with effect from 2020\, BPA is a pre-requisite for application for the President’s Guide Award (PGA).\n\nApplicants who failed the BPA test for the first time will be allowed a second chance to take the BPA test. Each Guide will be given a maximum of TWO times to sit for the test.\n\nThe Baden-Powell Award (BPA) is the highest award given out by our Chief Commissioner to a Girl Guide.\nAll applicants must:\n• be below 18 years old in the year of the test;\n• be members of registered Coys of GGS;\n• be deemed by their Guider to have developed to their fullest leadership potential;\n• have attained at least a Silver Badge;\n• have attained any eight Proficiency / Interest Badges.\n\nBelow is the information pertaining to the written and execution test for Round 1\,\nWritten Test date: 2 July 2021\, Fri\nExecution Test date: To be completed by: 11 Sep 2021\nReporting Time: 2.30 pm\nTime: 3 pm – 5 pm (written test)\nVenue: Virtual\nAttire: Full Guide Uniform (Compulsory)\nPlease note that Guides who are late or inappropriately attired will not be allowed to sit for the test.\n\nThe deadline for BPA Round 2 Registration is 30 June 2021\, Wednesday.\n\nThings to bring for the Written Test:\n• School Calendar (Semester 2 is enough. DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\nGGS\, with the support from MOE\, will be conducting workshops on basic facilitation skills for student leaders in the coming months. The workshop is now opened for registration. Guiders can register for up to 5 Guides (leadership ranks or with potential leadership) per school.\n\nThe objectives of the course as stated by MOE are as follows:\n\n 	Identify key beliefs and demonstrate behaviours of a learning facilitator\n 	Use a variety of facilitation strategies to make learning engaging\n 	Conduct conversations and energizers in a structured and meaningful manner\n 	Adapt activities to achieve the outcomes of a Brownies/Guides session and meet the needs of the learners\n 	Design questions to conduct reflection and review of lessons learnt\n\nApproach for the workshops:\n\n 	Role-Modelling – Trainer will role-model facilitation via explicit demonstrations of the strategies throughout the entire workshop. There will be three more sessions left and we strongly urge you to sign up for the upcoming trainings so that you can better use this platform during this period. Guiders who attend the session will also be awarded Skills Badge – Online Handbook e-certificate. DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\n \n\nAs you are aware\, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) rolled out her Leadership Model in 2018 and it is the recommended leadership model that Girl Guides Singapore is recommending for all of our girl members.\n\n \n\nOur two Juliette Low Seminar 2019 delegates\, Putri and Siti Farhana will be facilitating these workshops. SUMMARY:(Cancelled) Free Being Me Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\nFree Being Me workshop\n\nThis activity-based programme focuses on empowering participants by improving their confidence and self-esteem to realise their fullest potential. Through fun and interactive activities\, they will learn that body confidence and self-esteem come from valuing their bodies\, standing up to social pressures and supporting others to be more body confident. The programmes will teach them to plan their own action projects to make a positive difference to the lives of other children and young people.\n\nThis is an opportunity to develop and sharpen participants’ planning\, organising\, leadership and advocacy skills. DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\n \n\nThis year\, the Guide Branch launched a new proficiency badge – Bakester Proficiency Badge.\n\n \n\nTo help Guides who may not have access to the baking equipment but are keen to work on this badge\, the Guide Branch will be organising two rounds of Bakester Proficiency Badge Course. The dates are:\n\n 	Round 1 – 4th April and 11th April (Sign up by 20 March\, Fri)\nPlease note that the dates in April might be postponed due to the CoVid-19 situation. We will keep registered schools updated.\n 	Round 2 – 15 August and 29 August (Sign up by 3 July\, Fri)\n\nEach School can send up to 5 girls max.\n\n \n\nWe are also looking for schools to host these two rounds. Hosting Schools would need to be able to provide the necessary baking equipment (please see attachment for more details). SUMMARY:(Suspended) Facilitation Workshop for Guides
DESCRIPTION:Update: in view of the 2019-nCov situation\, this event has been suspended.\n\n//\n\nDear Guiders\,\n\n \n\nGGS\, with the support from MOE\, will be conducting workshops on basic facilitation skills for student leaders in the coming months. The workshop is now opened for registration. Guiders can register for up to 4 Guides (leadership ranks or with potential leadership) per school.\n\n \n\nThe objectives of the course as stated by MOE are as follows:\n\n 	Identify     key     beliefs     and     demonstrate behaviours of a learning facilitator\n 	Use a variety of facilitation strategies to make learning engaging\n 	Conduct conversations and energizers in a structured and meaningful manner\n 	Adapt activities to achieve the outcomes of a Brownies/Guides session and meet the needs of the learners\n 	Design questions to conduct reflection and review of lessons learnt\n\n \n\nApproach for the workshops:\n\n 	Role-Modelling – Trainer will role-model facilitation via explicit demonstrations of the strategies throughout the entire workshop.
