SUMMARY:Free Being Me Virtual Training (for Guides)
DESCRIPTION:Dear Guiders\,\n\nFree Being Me Workshop\n\nThis activity-based programme will enable the participants to discover that their society\, through media and people around them\, encourages them to try to look like a very narrow definition of beauty. We want to help participants improve their confidence and self-esteem to realise their fullest potential. Through fun and interactive activities\, they will learn that body confidence and self-esteem come from valuing their bodies\, standing up to social pressures and supporting others to be more body confident. The programme will challenge them to take the lead by taking action in their community\, sharing what they have learnt with their peers.\n\n \n\nThis is an opportunity to develop and sharpen participants’ planning\, organising and leadership skills. They will also learn new ideas that will be useful for running fun and meaningful unit activities using the WAGGGS non-formal educational method.\n\n \n\nGiven the current COVID-19 outlook\, we would not be able to have the workshop in HQ. We will conduct the trainings online over 2 separate sessions instead.\n\n \n\nDetails of the Online FBM Training \n\nDate: Part 1 – 21 August 2020 (Friday) & \n\n         Part 2 – 28 August 2020 (Friday)\n\nTime: 2:30 pm to 5:45 pm\n\nInstructions:\n\n1) A Guider has to be around during the training\n\n2) Able to access the internet for the training\n\n3) Prepare :\n\n– laptop with working audio\, microphone and video\n\n– materials needed (markers with at least 3 colours and 5 pieces of A3 paper)\n\n4) The link for the online training will be sent to the Guiders of participating schools nearer the date\n\n5) Guides should attend the training from home.\n\nNote:\n\n– Participants will have to conduct the FBM sessions in their units after the workshop.\n\n– Participants will also have to plan and execute the FBM Take Action projects with their unit members in order for all to attain the FBM badges.\n\nRegistration:\n\n– Guiders can register for up to 5 Guides per school\n\n– Please sign up before 4 August 2020 using this link https://forms.gle/s6khCFTfY1fLQDLy5\n\n– Kindly direct all queries to linfang@girlguides.org.sg\n\n \n\nYours-in-Guiding\n\nMrs Koh-Teh Yi Wen\n\nDeputy Chief Commissioner & Guide Branch Commissioner

DESCRIPTION:The badge programme offers our Guides an opportunity to not only develop their presentation and social interaction skills and will also steer the Guides towards an aptitude for self-directed learning. The programme is delivered in an enjoyable and experiential manner via scavenger hunts and field investigations supervised by professional horticulturists. Hence it is a unique learning experience for any Guide who wants to know more about nature.
